STUDENT ADMISSIONS CONTRACT “I understand and therefore I accept”
I understand that MC² believes that every student who accepts admission to MC² has the capacity to achieve at both a high academic and character development level.
I understand that MC² will challenge me to take a hard look at my levels of achievement, identify the areas in which I want to and/or need to grow, and formulate a plan for meeting my goals.
I understand I will be expected to participate in a community that values diversity.
I understand that I will be required to participate in a wilderness orientation trek and pass an exhibition to enter the Phases.
I understand that I am in a shared space and my privacy will be limited.
I understand that I must participate in community building activities.
I understand that the five rules of MC² are:
Invest in your learning.
Respect yourself, others and all property.
Value others’ contributions.
Use self-control.
Be safe.
I understand that although MC² will work with my learning style, the school requires intellectual discipline of all learners; that is:
I will be punctual, prepared, and ready to participate in all learning opportunities.
I will have and complete homework and will participate in skill development.
I will write and read daily.
I will write End of Day reports daily and End of Week reports weekly.
I will have to produce quality written reports.
I will have to make presentations before groups of people.
In short, MC² says that I am responsible for my learning.
I understand that MC² encourages students and staff to practice daily the art of making healthy life choices. Thus, the MC² community does not tolerate or negotiate the use of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, violence (verbal or physical) and being sexually intimate.
I understand that MC² receives visitors on a frequent basis. I will be expected to interact with these visitors in a courteous and helpful manner.
I understand MC² is a professional environment and I will be expected to dress and behave accordingly.
I understand that the school encourages students to grow intellectually and emotionally as a means of maintaining balance in their lives.
FAMILY COMMITMENT
We as a family will do the following to assure that (student’s name) sticks to their commitment to persevere in their goal to graduate from MC²:
I/we agree to participate in at least three exhibitions at school, at least two of which will be during the school day. (Dates will be posted at the beginning of the school year.)
I/we agree to read school communications and respond. Communications will primarily be through the family account on “First Class”.
I/we agree to read our student’s End of Day and End of Week reflections and ask questions, if we have any.
I/we agree to share information relevant to our student’s success at MC².
I/we understand progress at and through MC² is competency based, not time based, and that this means the timeline for my/our student’s high school program may be longer or shorter than a traditional high school. I/we also understand that we will be full participants in negotiating this timeline.
I/we understand, agree with, and will support the twelve conditions of the Student Admissions Contract.
I/we agree to attend the annual Mentor Recognition Dinner (held in June).
I/we agree to ask questions about things we need to understand better.
